Our story
Why a building company starts with the numbers
Plenty of building projects in London go over budget for the same reason: the price was guessed rather than measured. A drawing becomes a quote with a few lines on it, the job starts, and the gaps between those lines turn into extras. Home Care Construction was set up to work the other way round.
Every project starts by measuring the building and the drawings and pricing the work trade by trade. Some clients only want that part: a cost plan, a tender, someone to check a contractor’s valuations. Others want the same team to go on and build it. Either way, the thinking is the same. Write the scope down, price it openly, track it every week and agree the final account line by line.
We take on extensions, lofts, basements, bathrooms, kitchens, accessible home adaptations, groundworks and whole-house renovations across London. The houses are old, the streets are tight and the neighbours are close, so the planning matters as much as the building.

The rules and standards behind every job
No badges, just the published standards the work is measured, designed and signed off against.
Measured to NRM
Cost plans follow the RICS New Rules of Measurement (NRM1) and bills of quantities follow NRM2, so every line means the same thing to everyone pricing it.
Building Regulations
Structure, fire safety, ventilation, stairs, energy and access to the Approved Documents, with building control inspecting and signing off the work.
Written contracts
A written building contract with the scope, the price, how changes are valued and how payments are made, agreed before work starts.
Party walls and neighbours
Party wall notices identified at design stage so surveyors can be appointed in time, and a site run with the neighbours in mind.
What clients notice is how calmly the work is run
“Straight answers”
Every question about the basement got a straight answer, including the ones about party walls and drainage we had not thought to ask.
Homeowner, basement
“Kitchen fitted properly”
Units level, worktop joints you can barely see, and the old boxing moved so the extractor could run straight out. Very happy with it.
Homeowner, kitchen
“Cost plan we could trust”
The cost plan broke every stage down so we knew what the extension would need before a single quote came in. No surprises at the final account.
Homeowner, extension
“Tidy and well organised”
The loft went in with the house still lived in. Dust sheets every day, the stairs finished before the steels were boxed in, and clear updates each Friday.
Homeowner, loft conversion
“Thought about every detail”
The wet room was planned around my mother’s wheelchair, from the door width to where the rails sit. She can use it on her own now.
Family member, accessible bathroom
“Clear valuations”
Monthly valuations were measured properly and explained line by line. Having the numbers checked independently made the whole job calmer.
Developer, refurbishment
